- After Donald 'Chip' Pugh saw the photos (left, center) that the Lima (Ohio) Police Department had released of him, Pugh sent in a better photo (right) for the LPD to use.
Police in Ohio who were searching last week for a man with outstanding warrants circulated photos of the suspect on social media. But they were surprised when they then heard directly from their suspect, who had a unique complaint — he didn’t like the way he looked in those photos, so he sent them a better one.
On Jan. 6, the Lima, Ohio, Police Department announced there was an active warrant for the arrest of Donald A “Chip” Pugh, 45, for failure to appear on operating a vehicle while intoxicated and domestic violence. Pugh is also a person of interest in several other cases, including an arson and vandalism, police said.
The LPD released two photos to the public of Pugh, which they also posted on the department’s Facebook page. One person who didn’t give the photos a ‘Like’ was Pugh himself, who evidently was not happy with the photos.
According to LPD, Pugh made a request to police over Facebook, and also spoke to detectives on the phone about it.
To help remedy the matter, Pugh sent the police a “better” selfie of himself, which the LPD is now running with the older photos.
“We thank him for being helpful, but now we would appreciate it if he would come speak to us at the LPD about his charges,” the Lima police Facebook post states.
Pugh has yet to turn himself in to authorities.
