PREP SOFTBALL: Hanceville tops Vinemont 21-12 for 2nd win of season

Katie Surrett went 5 for 6 with two doubles, six RBIs and five runs, and Logan Yates was 4 for 6 with a double, a triple and five RBIs to pace Hanceville in a 21-12 area slugfest over Vinemont on Tuesday.

Jadah Hurst (double, three RBIs) and Rebecca Nelson (RBI) joined the offensive onslaught with three hits apiece. Cassidy Campbell (homer, three RBIs) and Destiny Short (RBI, three runs) both added two, and Gracie Hudspeth (RBI) had one. Mckenzie Hamby scored twice and Hannah Flanigan, once.

Campbell struck out five in a complete game outing.

“It’s just our second win of the season, but the girls are really coming together and starting to play good ball,” Hanceville coach Tyler Calvert said. “We’re young but on the rise.”

Kylie Williams and Mykenzie Lamb each had three hits and combined for five RBIs for Vinemont.
