- Corner outfielder Maddy Paruis (44) at a game in Gardendale earlier this season.
The second Alabama Sports Writers Association poll has been released and four area teams appear on this week’s list.
Gardendale fell two spots to No. 4 in the Class 6A softball poll. The Rockets are on a bit of a skid after losing an area game to Walker, but hope to rebound after spring break. They are back in action on April 5th when they host Minor in Area 11 play, where they sit at 3-1.
In the Class 5A softball poll, Hayden stays strong at No. 3 while Corner comes from unranked in the season’s first poll to No. 8 this week.
According to c2cschools.com, the Yellow Jackets have won seven straight games since losing to Class 4A No. 1 Curry, 3-0, on March 17.
Corner is the only baseball team in the area to appear in this week’s rankings. At 14-7 overall, the Class 5A Yellow Jackets sit at No. 9, one slot ahead of East Limestone (16-6). Corner has won seven of its last nine games and is scheduled to visit Hueytown on Friday in a doubleheader.
