Preliminary hearing today for Battleground man, 19, charged in shotgun murder

A preliminary hearing is scheduled this morning for Isaac Wayne Hill, 19, who is charged with murder in the shooting death of Wesley Shannon “Chocolate” Taylor, Jr., 22, of Cullman.

Hill has been held without bond at the Cullman County Detention Center since the March 12 incident. He is scheduled to appear before Presiding Cullman County District Judge Kim Chaney at 9 a.m. for a preliminary hearing to determine if there is probable cause for the case to move forward.

Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry said Taylor was shot and killed with a shotgun at a home in the 5800 block of County Road 1101 in the Corinth community, which is just west of Battleground off Alabama 157. Investigators have conducted interviews and reviewed social media posts, computers and cell phones in the case.

Murder is a Class A felony punishable by death or life imprisonment without parole.
