Katherine “Doris” Ratliff, age 81 of Gardendale passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008. Formerly a member of West End Baptist Church and a current member of Gardendale First Baptist Church since 1956. She was an active member of the welcome Sunday school class and senior saints choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Ed” Ratliff. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Becker (Ron), Patti Dean (Johnny); grandchildren, Beth McMeekin (Dr. Stan), Ashley Dean, Brooke Becker, Brett Dean (April), Courtney Salter (John); seven great-grandchildren; brother, James Arlyn Adkins; sisters, Wynelle Ward and Billie Smith, several nieces and nephews. She taught her daughters and granddaughters how to be Godly mothers. “Her children rise and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28. Services were held at the Gardendale Chapel with burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hanceville Nursing Home. They served as “angels unaware”.
