Pedestrian struck and killed on Carson Road, just northeast of Fultondale city limits

A pedestrian was struck and killed in a traffic accident early Thursday morning on Carson Road.
The incident took place near the intersection with Candy Mountain Road, just under a mile northeast of the Fultondale city limits.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a 55-year-old man from Tarrant was walking in the traffic lane of the 600 block of Carson Road. The man was hit by a pickup truck whose driver did not see the pedestrian.
The victim died at the scene. His name has been withheld pending notification of family.
A sheriff’s spokesman said their investigators concluded that the incident was accidental, and no criminal charges are expected.
