Rockets improve to 24-9, sweep Vinemont

The Gardendale Rockets tuned up for their Friday playoff series with Fairfield by sweeping the Vinemont Eagles on Monday.

Gardendale scored 27 runs as they improved to 24-9 this season.

Just four weeks ago, the Rockets held a 7-8 record and have since won 17 of their last 18 games.

Vinemont 1


David Roberts (5-4) threw four innings of two-hit ball and walked four as he picked up the win.

At the plate, third baseman Trey Williamon went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Adam Erwin had one hit, scored one run and had one RBI.

Josh Headley went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Hunter Graveman went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and one RBI.

Rob Mitchell had one hit and scored three runs.

Gardendale 15,

Vinemont 1


Conner McCain (5-1) threw four innings of two-hit ball and struck out four as he was the winning pitcher. He allowed four hits and one earned run.

At the plate, Cameron Brewer had a hit, two walks and scored three runs.

Erwin went 2-for-2 with a double, a home run and five RBIs. He scored three times.

Graveman had a hit, scored a run and had one RBI.

Landon Kelly had a three-run triple.

Williamon went 1-for-1 with a double and two walks. He scored three runs.

Tabernacle 12,

On Tuesday, the Torches improved to 8-2 and 5-0 in conference play as they whipped the Warriors at home.

Landon Ingle (3-1), was the winning pitching, throwing five innings of four-hit ball.

He struck out four and walked none. He allowed four runs, but only two of the runs were earned.

At the plate, Jared Higginbotham had a great game as he went 4-for-4 with four runs scored.

He also collected a double and a home run along the way. He drove in two runs.

Austin Thompson went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI.

Will Lankford went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Steven White went 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI.

West Point 0


On Tuesday, Bobby Williams (4-2) picked up the win with three innings of two-hit ball. He struck out six and walked none.

Andrew Campbell pitched two hitless innings and struck out two.

At the plate, Conner McCain went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs. He scored three runs.

Andrew Busby went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Trey Williamon went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and one RBI.

Josh Headley had a double and two RBIs.

Landon Kelly had a double in his only at bat and drove in two runs.

Gardendale is now 25-9.
