Authorities have so far made little progress tracking down the man who robbed a Holly Pond bank Friday afternoon.

“There’s really not a whole lot going on right now,” Cullman County Sheriff Tyler Roden said. “But it’s a priority case to us.”

Roden noted that FBI investigators were recently called in to assist in the case.

“We’re working with the FBI … hopefully we’ll have some success determining who the culprit is,” Roden said.

According to reports, the sheriff’s office received an alarm call at approximately 1:42 p.m. from Traditions Bank, located on Highway 91. Witnesses stated the suspect entered the bank armed with a pistol and took an undetermined amount of cash. No shots were fired and nobody was injured.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a full-face white and blue striped motorcycle helmet, a backpack and a jacket over a University of Alabama sweatshirt.

Once he received the money, the suspect bolted from the scene on a white and blue motorcycle. He was last seen traveling down Highway 91 toward Hanceville.

Sheriff’s deputies and state troopers swarmed the area to secure the crime scene and to track down the suspect. The Alabama Department of Public Safety launched a patrol helicopter to search for the subject as well.

This is Holly Pond’s second bank robbery in less than a month. The last robbery occurred on Jan. 19 at People’s Bank. Investigators arrested Michael Taft Miller, 41 of Holly Pond last week for the crime.

According to sheriff’s reports, Miller allegedly walked into the bank wearing a red cap and sunglasses and carrying a shotgun. He then allegedly robbed one of the tellers and left the scene on foot.

Both robberies were reported as robbery in the first degree, which is a Class A felony and punishable by up to life in prison.
