The deaths of two people in a home near Locust Fork is being investigated as a double homicide.

The Blount County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Gary “Sambo” Hazelrig, 43, and Rasha Breann Sherrer, 36.

Blount County Sheriff’s Officer Tim Kent said that the bodies were found inside a house in the 1200 block of Deavers Town Road on Monday morning. The home is about two miles northeast of Locust Fork.

Both victims had gunshot wounds.

“A lady who was a friend of theirs hadn’t heard from them in several days, and went to check on them,” Kent said. “She walked in and found them, and called us.”

That call came at about 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Kent said the sheriff’s office is continuing to track down leads in the case.
