Jordan started out behind Springville in the first set by as many as five points, then rallied to win nine points in 10 rallies to take the lead and eventually the set.

But in the second, the Tigers turned the momentum for good when they went from being down by three to going up 16-7, thanks to 10 straight points off the service of Emily Ward and the attacking of outside hitter Jaylyn Felder.

“We’ve never allowed that kind of run anytime this year,” Jordan coach Kelsey Treadaway said.

Jordan secured a spot in the super regional at Huntsville by winning in its opening match, defeating Hayden 25-10, 25-12 and 25-16.

Evin Bibb had 20 assists and Corinna Dodd had 20 digs for the Wildcats. Tori Knighten added 10 digs.

Springville swept into the finals by defeating Moody in straight sets.

Jordan will likely face second-ranked Guntersville in the first round Friday at the Von Braun Center.

Also in Class 5A, Corner won its opening game in the Area 10 tournament held on its home court, but lost in the finals to Dora in four sets, 11-25, 27-25, 25-11 and 29-27.

In Class 6A, Gardendale also advances to the super regional thanks to a win in its first match against Center Point. The Rockets lost in the Area 11 finals to the host team, sixth-ranked Walker, by scores of 25-12, 25-5 and 25-10.

Pinson Valley was knocked out in a first-round loss to host Clay-Chalkville.
