MORRIS — Some pitchers are good. Fewer are great. Fewer still can say they’re perfect. On Tuesday afternoon, Mortimer Jordan’s Blair Johnson was perfect, as she faced the minumin of 15 batters, while hurling a five-inning perfect game against Pinson Valley.

The No. 3-ranked Lady Blue Devils (31-4) won 14-0.

Johnson (15-1), struck out eight batters, got four ground outs to second base, one ground out to third base, one ground out to shortstop, one comebacker to the pitching circle and one pop out to the catcher as she dominated from start to finish. This was the second no-hitter she took part in. Earlier this season, Johnson and Michelle Cheatwood combined on a six-inning no-hitter.

The Jordan offense scored double-digit runs on only eight hits, as the Lady Indians committed five errors and issued nine walks to help the Jordan cause. Jordan ran the bases aggressively, as the Lady Devils stole five bases.

Catcher Morgan “Mo” Estell went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Johnson had one hit, scored two runs and drove in three with a two-run single and a bases loaded walk.

Danae Hayes had a walk and scored two runs. Kayla Cox had a single, was hit by a pitch, walked once and scored three runs.

Erin Whitlock had a single, one walk and scored two runs. Logan Woodward had a walk, reached on an error and scored two runs.

Alyssa Linn went 2-for-2, scored one run and had one RBI. Linn, Cox, Woodward, Johnson and Estell stole one base each. Natalie Brodie had an RBI on a ground out in her only at bat.

Jordan, which lead 1-0 after one inning, broke the game open in the second with 10 runs on only four hits.
