Gardendale went on a 17-1 run in the second quarter, which gave them the cushion they needed to cruise to a 59-42 Class 6A Area 11 girls basketball win at Woodlawn Friday night.

Joy Sadler and Alissa Cornelius scored 11 points each for the Rockets. Sadler also grabbed seven rebounds, and Cornelius dished out five assists.

Kelsey Kennedy led all scorers with 20 points for the Colonels.

Gardendale (12-8, 1-2 area) takes on another Area 11 opponent at Huffman on Tuesday night.
