The game started out bad for Gardendale, and ended up worse as sixth-ranked Shades Valley rolled over the Rockets for a 70-30 mercy-rule win in Class 6A Area 11 girls basketball action Thursday.

Katelyn Thomas and Camryn London led the Mounties with 16 points each.

Joy Sadler’s nine points was tops for Gardendale.

The Rockets (12-10 overall, 1-4 area) host arch-rival Mortimer Jordan on Friday night.
