Cullman County Sheriff’s deputies confiscated 30 grams of cocaine recently during a traffic stop in Dodge City, Sheriff Tyler Roden said Thursday.
Ronald Alvin Jones, 30, of Blountsville and Leisha Deann Loggins, 29, of Hanceville, were arrested about 10 p.m. Wednesday night, and charged with trafficking cocaine, after Loggins was seen driving on the wrong side of the road. During the traffic stop, deputies found the cocaine and drug paraphernalia, Roden said.
Jones’ bond was set at $1 million, while Loggins’ was set at $1 million and $100.
Roden said Deputy Chris Betts made the traffic stop, and discovered scales, cocaine and other drug paraphernalia in the Ford Mustang Loggins was driving. After Loggins stopped the car, Jones, who was a passenger in the vehicle, tried to flee but was caught by Deputy Ryan Warren, the sheriff said.
“They stopped at a business in Dodge City,” Roden said. “When the vehicle came to a stop, the passenger, Jones, fled on foot, at which time Deputy Ryan Warren apprehended him.”
Narcotics Enforcement Team agents were also involved in the arrest, Roden said.
