Cindy Henderson Reese, 40, reported that she had arrived home from the grocery store and found the home in disarray. She called the police to check the residence and officers found Michael Reese in a rear kitchen of the home, dead from a gunshot wound.

Sheriff’s investigators determined that Cindy Reese was involved in an affair with 36-year-old Jeffery David Brown of Gardendale.

Detectives developed evidence that indicated Cindy Reese and Brown were responsible for the murder of Michael Reese so that they could be together. The evidence was presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and arrest warrants were issued this morning charging both suspects with the murder.

Reese and Brown were both taken into custody shortly after 1 p.m. today as Brown was dropping Reese off from a lunch date, according to the sheriff’s office.

Both suspects are being held in the Jefferson County Jail with $100,000 bond each.
