Mildred E. Webb
Funeral services for Mildred E. Webb, 90, of Holly Pond will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Jeremy Collier officiating, with interment in Brooklyn Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Webb died Monday, June 11, at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born on Sept. 4, 1916, in Alabama to George A. and Kitty Bailey Hart. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two husbands, Dillard Lovvorn and Bill Webb.
Survivors include three stepsons, Bill Webb Jr., Jerry Webb and Lynn Webb; two sisters, Elizabeth Hayes and Jessie Meeks; and two brothers, Edward (Ellen) Hart and Harold Hart.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lillian Roberson
Lillian Roberson, Age 91 passed away Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Hanceville Nursing Home. Arrangements are incomplete at this time, and will be announced later by Moss-Service Funeral Home.
Levie John ‘L.J.’ Wise
Funeral services for Levie John “L.J.” Wise, 84, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Mt. Joy Missionary Baptist Church, Richard Bailey and Steve Rodgers officiating, with interment in Prospect Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Mr. Wise died Monday, June 11, at his residence. He was born on Nov. 3, 1922, in Cullman County to William and Sudie Key Wise. He was a longtime member and deacon of Mt. Joy Missionary Baptist Church. He worked for U.S. Steel and Drummond Coal Company and also served as a former board member of the Cullman County Cattlemen’s Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Velva Hollis Wise; a son, Marvin Wise; a grandson, Steven Wise; three sisters, Della Trapp, Lula Daniel and Flossie Stricklin; and two brothers, Earl and Raymond Wise.
Survivors include a son, J.W. (Hilda) Wise; a daughter, Reba (Melvin) Williams; four grandchildren, Wayne (Sherrie) Wise, Sandra Wise (Tim) Robinson, Leah Williams (Steve) Barnes and Brian (Yvette) Williams; eight great-grandchildren, Zachary Wise, Justin Wise, Andrew Wise, Lance Robinson, Kristie Robinson, Breanna Barnes, Brooke Barnes and Sophia Mahalie Williams; five nieces, Evelyn Stricklin Carlisle, Christine Trapp McClendon, Judy Daniel Thomas, Gracie Wise Rhodes and Teresa Wise Garmon; and seven nephews, Billy Wise, Leland Wise, Kelly Wise, Robert Wise, Hershal Trapp, Johnny Trapp and D.L. Daniel.
Visitation was Tuesday.
Rebecca Elizabeth Gregg
Funeral services for Rebecca Elizabeth Gregg, 72, of Hartselle will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Salem United Methodist Church, the Revs. Harold Thompson and Michael Mason officiating, with burial in the Salem Cemetery. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to services.

Mrs. Gregg died Monday, June 11, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was a devoted wife and mother. She served with her husband at the Methodist churches he pastored. She was a talented seamstress, wonderful cook and avid gardener. She left a legacy of her love of the Lord that will be handed down to her family. She always had a smile and a word of encouragement for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Edwards; and a granddaughter, Leah Rebecca Brown.
Survivors include her husband, Odie Gregg of Hartselle; two sons, Joseph (Nita) Gregg of Flat Rock, Mich. and Timothy Gregg of Hartselle; four daughters, Sara (Cecil) Brown of Ragland, Ala., Janet (Jody) Carol of Montgomery, Rene (Matt) Stiles of Falkville and Ann (Ricky) Calvert of Vinemont; two brothers, Robert Edwards and Ellwood Edwards; three sisters, Elba Skinner, Frances Cook and Laura Gregory; and seven grandchildren, Gregg Brown, David Gregg, Daniel Gregg, Joshua Carroll, Hannah Carroll, Bethany Carroll and Meredith Ann Calvert.
Pallbearers will be Bob Miller, Ronald Cole, Bobby Garner, Frank Campbell, L.C. Robinson and Keith Wilemon.
Visitation was Tuesday.
Stephanie N. Steele
Stephanie N. Steele, 21, of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., died Thursday, June 7, 2007, in the Martin Memorial Hospital North in Stuart, Fla. Stephanie courageously battled cystic fibrosis and had received two lung transplants until the angels took her to heaven. Her spirit and zest for life has inspired all who knew her and her love of music, the arts and the beach where expressed through her writings.
Miss Steele was born in Fort Pierce, Fla. on Oct. 2, 1985, to Timothy Lloyd Steele and Julia Christine Rogell Steele. She was a life-long resident of Port Saint Lucie. She was a graduate of Centennial High School, Port Saint Lucie, in the class of 2004. She was a student at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kathleen and Wayne Wilcox and grandfather, Samuel D. Steele.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Samantha Steele of Port Saint Lucie; her grandparents, Mario Rogell of Melbourne, Mary Rogell of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.; her godmother, Jacqueline Creel of Port Saint Lucie; her godfather, George Dente of Port Saint Lucie; aunts and uncles, Great-Aunt Ana Mate of Toronto, Canada, Mario (Barbara) Rogell Jr. of Melbourne, Fla., Maria (Jim) Hayden of Tampa, Fla., Frances Rogell of Orlando, Fla., John Rogell of Melbourne, Peter (Cindy) Rogell of Satellite Beach, Fla., Elizabeth Machuga of Orlando, Katherine (Rodney) Sorrell of Melbourne, Angelique Steele of Fort Pierce, John Steele of Port Saint Lucie, Jay Steele and Michelle Steele McCurry, both of Cullman; and 22 cousins and a host of extended family and friends including her devoted boyfriend, Tony Demonte.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Saint Lucie Catholic Church, Port Saint Lucie. A reception will follow at Veterans Memorial Park Riverwalk in Port St. Lucie.

Omer Eugene Thomas Sr.
Omer Eugene Thomas, Sr., 95, died June 10, 2007, in Iowa City, Iowa.
A visitation in Iowa City was held Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Lensingís Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville, Iowa.
A second visitation will be held at Moss Service Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2007. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home in Cullman. Following the service, burial will be in Brooklyn Community Cemetery located near Holly Pond.
Omer began a man’s work just before his 13th birthday working at his father’s sawmill. In his youth he also peddled flavorings, worked construction, worked on the roads and worked at a plant nursery. When he married and was raising his family he farmed. In 1954. he moved to Flint, Mich., where he worked for General Motors for 17 years. In 1972 he retired, and he his wife, Cora, returned to their farm in Cullman, where he farmed for another 21 years. Omer’s wife died in 1992. He moved to Iowa in 1993 to be near his daughters. He found pleasure in walking several hours a day and covered many streets in the Iowa City area. He moved to Windmill Pointe in Coralville in 2001 where he lived the rest of his life.
Omer was a devoted reader of his Bible and an avid reader of many newspapers. He enjoyed keeping track of celestial events such as the phases of the moon, position of the planets, and times of the sunrise and sunset. Omer loved his family and enjoyed regaling everyone with fascinating stories of his many life experiences.
Omer is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Omer Eugene Thomas Jr.; seven brothers, Luther, Mitchell, Lawrence, Walter, Harvey, Carl and Dorsey; and three sisters, Burma, Jennie and Pearl.
Omer is survived by his three children, Gail (John W.) McLure of Iowa City, Iowa, Corine Perkins of Madison, Wisc., Randall (Murl) Thomas of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Stacy Bailey of Cullman; eight grandchildren: David (Karin) McLure, John R. (Kris) McLure, Sharon (Stephen) Parramore, Phillip (Marianne) Thomas, Celeste (John Drury) Thomas, Laura (Dave Sibilski) de Turro, Joel Thomas and Emily Thomas; and seven great-grandchildren, Matt McLure, Amanda McLure, John Dorsey “J.D.” McLure, Jacob Thomas, Grete Thomas, Zach Sibilski and Miranda Sibilski.

Mr. Brown passed away on Monday, June 11, 2007, at his home. He attended New Providence Baptist Church. He was a retired executive with Mobil Oil Corporation.
He was preceded in death by parents, Dovie and William Brown; three sisters, Orean Talley, Vera Brock and Hilda Floyd; and three brothers, Enis, Rudolph and Braxton Brown.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Brown; a daughter, Pamela (Mike) Mowchan of Anderson, Ind.; a son, Thomas (Cindy) Brown of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; two sisters, Margie Hornick of Akron, Ohio, and Silva Dowdy of Michigan; three brothers, Douglas Brown and Dwane Brown, both of Cullman, and Maxwell Brown of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
