Man found dead; body was laying beside abandoned vehicle in field near Morris

- Jefferson County Sheriff's investigators were on the scene Monday on Coleman Road, near Providence United Methodist Church east of Morris, where a passerby found the body of a man who had been shot and killed. The body was lying in a field, next to an abandoned vehicle.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s investigators are looking into the case of a body found next to an abandoned vehicle in the middle of a field.
The vehicle was spotted by a passerby in a field in the 7400 block of Coleman Road at about 8 a.m. The passerby stopped and saw the body, then alerted law enforcement.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found that the victim had been shot and left for dead. The victim is a 42-year-old white male; his name has not been made public.
