For the second time in three years, the Bearcats’ starting shortstop has surfaced from a prime talent pool at the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association’s three-day All-Star event at Troy University to make the state’s exclusive squad.

As a member of Team Alabama, Robinson will strut his stuff in front of nearly 100 scouts and college representatives next Tuesday through Thursday at Georgia Gwinnett College. He’ll take part in several workouts and hit the field against the best Georgia and Tennessee has to offer.

Folks from in-state schools of all levels, SEC programs and the Braves — among other MLB organizations — have attended the showcase in recent years. Past Cullman invitees include Cole Collins (2013-14), Jesse Scott (2014) and Sam Huser (2013).

Robinson has reached the AlaBCA’s All-Star stage three years in a row. This past week, he was joined in Troy by teammate Trent Price, a rising junior expected to see his role increase next spring.

One of Robinson’s All-Star squad-mates was Pelham’s John-Michael Long. The pairing could’ve been awkward considering Cullman topped Pelham for the Class 6A state championship just last month, but Robinson said Long actually turned out to be one of his better friends.

Robinson will enjoy another All-Star experience July 21 when he and Cullman softballer Claire Jenkins head to Montgomery to represent the North at the 19th annual Alabama Star Sports Week.

Robinson, whose range and glove in the middle infield are invaluable, batted .387 with 50 hits, 51 runs, 25 RBIs, nine doubles and two homers from the two-hole this spring. He had nine sac bunts or hits in the playoffs and 20 for the season.
