Malcolm Baty
Funeral services for Malcolm Baty, 66, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at Valley View Baptist Church, Revs. Marvin Clemons and Phillip Starnes officiating, with interment to follow at Valley View Cemetery. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Baty died Friday in Hanceville. He was the son of Albert Baty and Callie Exie (Hunt) Baty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Boren Baty; three children: Amy Baty (Louis) Bradford of Hartselle, Nathan (Misti) Baty of Smokerise and Anna Baty (Robby) Green of Cullman; one granddaughter, Savanna Claire Bradford of Hartselle; one brother, Leon (Gail) Baty of Hanceville, three sisters, Emogene Wisener of Hanceville, Teresa (Sam) Baruch of Jasper and Becky Way of Cullman.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Margaret Rose Heard
Funeral services for Margaret Rose Heard, 66, of Decatur will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Glenn Miller of Corinth Baptist Church officiating, with burial in Corinth Cemetery in Cullman County.
Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Heard died Thursday, Aug. 2, at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Adrian Heard and Linnie Armitta Bryant Heard.
Left to cherish her memories are two sisters, Reathel Brown of East Pointe, Mich., and Alma Heard of Southfield, Mich.; and two brothers, Gurnie Heard of Corinth, Ala., and Billie Heard of Smith Lake, Ala.; six nieces; and eight nephews.
She cherished her friendships and she will be remembered by close friends, including Linda Stonewall, her children and grandchild, Betty Mitchell and daughter, Sam Moore, Cherry McDonald, Layla Khatib and children, and all the staff at Summer Place.
She leaves one cat-child, Puss Irvin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley in Decatur, Ala.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Martha Opal Burks
Funeral services for Martha Opal Burks, 89, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Leon Smith officiating, with interment in Center Grove Baptist Cemetery.
Cullman Funeral Home, formerly Williams-McCracken, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burks passed away on Thursday, Aug. 2, at her residence. She was born in Alabama to Howard Edward Sims and Mary Vonie Jones Sims. She loved crocheting and quilting. She had a tremendous love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Criss A. Burks; three sisters, Ottie Bentley, Myrtle Golden Benefield and Eunice Arrington; and a son-in-law, Harlan Smith.
Survivors include two sons, William E. Burks Sr. and Kenneth E. (Shelia) Burks; two daughters, Martha Ann Smith and Elwanda Burks; two sisters, Mary Creel Burks and Edna Deppen; 11 grandchildren, Wanda (Randy) Wilson, Michael (Susan) Smith, Edward (Trina) Smith, Karen (Dewayne) Moon, Loria Benefield, William (Angie) Burks Jr., Donnia Powers (Daniel) Kelley, Michael Burks, Marty (Teresa) Burks, Tanya (John) Stephenson, Tiffany (Ritchey) Johnson, 21 grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Edward Smith, John Stephenson, Ritchey Johnson, Dewayne Moon, Randy Wilson and Jimmy Golden.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
James Woodrow Jackson
Funeral services for James Woodrow Jackson, 83, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at Moss-Service Funeral Home, Dr. Edwin Hayes officiating, with burial to follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
Mr. Jackson died Aug. 3, 2007 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 12, 1924. He as a retired sales manager for Mitch Smith Chevrolet. Mr. Jackson served in World War II as a radar operator with the 9th Air Force in England, France and Germany. He and his wife were married for 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Jackson; parents Lee Jackson and Nellie Little Jackson; and brother Huey Jackson.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie (Vic) Self; a grandson, Trent Self; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Lee County.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Danny Wayne Murray

Carolyn Sue Murphree Latham
Funeral services for Carolyn Sue Murphree Latham, 74, of Birmingham will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Holt officiating with burial in the Rock Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Latham passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 at St. Vincents Hospital in Birmingham. She was born Sept. 7, 1932 to William Burt Murphree and Annie Velma Scruggs Murphree.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Albert Latham.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Joseph Latham of Adger and Phillip Scott (Tricia) Latham of Hueytown; one daughter, Kathy (Rick) Harris of McCalla; two sisters, Reba Nell Johnson and Omalene Henson; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
