Lucille Skipper Murphree
Funeral services for Lucille Skipper Murphree, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at Crosshaven Church, with interment in Cullman City Cemetery. Her grandsons, the Revs. Jason Murphree and Joshua Murphree, will officiate.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Murphree passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born on Oct. 7, 1918, in Cullman, to Charles William and Rissie Segars Skipper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon Andrews Murphree; six brothers, C.W. “Charlie” Skipper, C.I. “Pete” Skipper, Edward “Doc” Skipper, Clifton “Cliff” Skipper, Emil “Buck” Skipper, Raimon Skipper; and a sister, Vida “Spide” Scheinert.
Survivors include a son, Michael Alan (Sheila) Murphree; two grandsons, Jason (Sharon) Murphree and Joshua (Crystal) Murphree; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Murphree, Emma Murphree, Ella Murphree and Isaac Murphree; a sister, Tillie Mae Smith; three sisters-in-law, June Skipper, Mickey Skipper and Phillis Skipper; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crosshaven Church Local Missions Fund at 9131 U.S. Highway 31 South, Hanceville, AL 35077.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Gary Edward Murrell
Funeral services for Gary Edward Murrell, 58, of Collinsville, Miss., will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at Christ Lutheran Church, Pastor Bob Wolfort officiating, with interment in Cullman City Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is notifying.
Mr. Murrell passed away on July 31, 2007. He was born on May 3, 1949, to James Elmer and Willie Mae Basenberg Murrell. He graduated in 1967 from Cullman High School, attended Jacksonville State University, served in the Alabama National Guard for seven years, and was a mason in Philadelphia, Miss., and prior to his death he was a member of the Pearl River Choctaw Gaming Commission.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Murrell of Collinsville; a daughter, Angela Tidwell; a son, Bryan (Aimee) Lay of Lauderdale, Miss.; his mother; four grandchildren; an aunt, Louise Basenberg; other cousins; and many friends.

Billy Max Ball
Funeral services for Billy Max Ball, 57, of Vinemont will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Malcolm Carter and Albert Kimbrel officiating, with interment in East Battleground Cemetery.
Cullman Funeral Home, formerly Williams-McCracken, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ball died Wednesday, Aug. 8. He was born on Nov. 24, 1949, in Cullman County to Robert Leon and Rita Marie Jackson Ball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Johnathon Waldrop.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Shockley Ball; two sons, Michael (Christina) Ball and Bryan (Alichia) Ball; two daughters, Tammy (Alan) Spangler and Lori (Heath) Speegle; a brother, Charlie (Cindy) Ball; a sister, Sue (Travis) Buckelew; and eight grandchildren, Brashia Ball, Chris Ball, Taylor Ball, Johnna Ball, Madison Ball, Valerie Speegle, Austin Speegle and Jay Burgess.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Ball, Kim Ball, Freddie Ball, Rajool Mehta, Heath Speegle and Dustin Pigg.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
