Regions Bank and Gardendale investigators, along with the Hoover Police Department, worked together to arrest a man who had on his person more than 40 fraudulent credit and debit cards, made from stolen Regions Bank account information.

Police arrested Edward Earl Jones, 30, of Brooklyn, N.Y., who was in the process of using the fraudulently manufactured debit and credit cards. He had charged $9,000 in less than an hour; he was buying gift cards in increments of $1,000.

“The losses could have been much worse,” said Clark.

Jones was charged with trafficking in stolen identities, five counts of identity theft, theft of property 1st degree and three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. He is being held on a total bond of $620,000.
