Fairview High School has a large problem with their stadium. People come in to enjoy football, track and field, and the band. It is a real asset to the community. The school is such a beautiful campus, we would hate to have a portion of the school unusable. I think we owe the school and the young people as much support as we can give them.

We also have an obligation to make sure it is fixed because of the man’s name is over the stadium (Coach Dafford Smith). He has done so much for the young people for so many years. Everyone has a lot of respect for Mr. Smith. He still can remember the names of so many of the young people he worked with.

Some years ago, several people got together to ask the Board of Education to name the stadium after Coach Smith, and the Board of Education agreed. I’d like to ask that same board and our representatives and senator to put a lot of effort into this project, because these young people need this stadium.
