Sisters arrested. Brittany and Jessica Patterson, the two sisters from Kimberly who were the subject of a Crime Stoppers notice last week, were arrested Tuesday after they turned themselves in to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Each was charged with first-degree armed burglary, while Brittany Patterson was also charged with a misdemeanor count of third-degree criminal mischief. They were both released on bond.
Sports: Devils prevail. Dalton Hudson had a career-high 35 points, as Mortimer Jordan used a well-played transition game to defeat Hayden 75-66 in a Class 5A Area 11 boys basketball game Tuesday night. Dylan Bradford led the Wildcats with 24 points, including five 3-point shots, as Hayden lost only its second game in nine outings. One the girls’ side, the Blue Devils held off a later rally by the Wildcats for a 72-66 win. Haley Alexander paced the Devils with 21 points and Shayna Mims added 15, while Hannah Padgett scored 18 points and Sharley Miller 17 for the Cats… Football: Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who won a Heisman Trophy while at Auburn and led the school to the national championship game, was injured in a traffic accident Tuesday in Charlotte. Newton suffered a pair of fractures of transverse process bones his lower back, but is expected to be released from a hospital today; his playing status is unclear.
