PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Warriors ride hot 1st quarter to 67-59 win over Vinemont

VINEMONT — West Point won the first quarter by seven points and went on to win the game 67-59 over Vinemont in a county clash Thursday that was close to all square the final three quarters.
Ryder Jones’ 17 points paced a quartet of double-digit scorers for the Warriors (7-6). Will Wrenn was next in line with 13 points, followed by Tanner Rusk with 12 and Bryant Farley with 10.
Other West Point contributors were Riley Voce, five points; Brandon Farley, four; Jacob Daniel, three; Kobe Smith, two; and Levi Laney, one.
Zach Drake and Lance Stanley shared the Eagles’ top spot with 20 points apiece. Other Vinemont (7-7) contributors were Tyler Tucker, nine points; Hunter Green, five; Trey Waldrep, three; and Trey Tucker, two.

All but one player scored at least one point for West Point, which improved to 8-6 after leading 22-5, 38-8 and 51-15 at each quarter break.
Bailee Yearwood cracked double figures with 10 points, while Tess Hembree and Madison Roberts both came close with eight. Other Warrior contributors were Lexi Bell, five points; Jeri Beasley and Taylor Deese, four apiece; Lillie Burdette, three; and Lexie Burdette and Olivia Vandenberg, one each.
Casey Westmoreland and Laura Smithson both scored five points for Vinemont.
