According to a statement by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began an investigation after Minor principal Juanita Vann told a school resource officer that the student in question, age 16, was involved in an altercation with three other students over a problem with a backpack.
During the altercation, the student told the others, “I’m going to shoot all of you in the face and kill all of y’all,” the JCSO statement said.
The student’s mother was brought to the school, where she told investigators that there were guns in their home, but the student did not have access to them.
A juvenile petition was filed charging the student with making terrorist threats, and deputies then went to his home with a search warrant and removed the weapons.
The student was not identified because of his juvenile status.
