The Gardendale Board of Education now has two employees, and it will soon double that number.

The board on Thursday authorized the superintendent to post two central office staff positions — a director of secondary education and student support services, and an executive secretary to the superintendent.

Both job positions are to be posted on the Alabama State Department of Education’s portal for 14 days.

The director of secondary education and student support services will supervise instructional learning associated with secondary education, career and technical education, guidance and assessment, and professional learning for secondary education.

In addition, the individual will supervise the anticipated future positions of transportation director, technology coordinator, technology integration specialist and maintenance foreman.

“The recent hiring of Mr. Randy Dunlap as CSFO [chief school finance officer], and the approval by the board of these two critical positions represents positive movement forward in the establishment of the Gardendale City School System,” said Supt. Dr. Patrick Martin.

The Gardendale Board of Education became an official entity April 1 upon its appointment by the Gardendale City Council.

Enrollment of students is expected in fall 2015.
