William E. Wingard, age 85 of Gardendale passed away after a short illness with cancer on Nov. 25, 2007. He was a member of Gardendale’s First Baptist Church and he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Jim Clay Opticians with over 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife Clara E. Wingard and second wife Mattie Lewis Wingard. Survivors include son, Craig Wingard (Rhonda); daughter Debra Hammock (Mike); grandchildren, Chad Wingard, Brittany Wingard, Tommy Jennings and Rebecca Cupps (Brandon); brother, Richard Wingard; sister, Flora Sessions.
