Homecoming at Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church tomorrow

Congratulations to Lane Hollis, who won the moon pie-eating contest at the Moody Otkoberfest on Oct. 27. He and his sister, Tiffany Hollis, spent the night with their grandmother, Carol Karrasch, in Pell City and on Friday night, went to Revelation Walk at Eden Westside Baptist Church and then to Otkoberfest. All three had a great time.

• Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church, located off of Sardis Road, will be having their homecoming tomorrow. Sunday school starts at 9:45 a.m. The guest singers will be Sacred Harvest. Lunch will follow after morning services. The singing will start at 1 p.m.

• Happy birthday to my momma, Denise Tesseneer on Nov. 13. She is a wonderful mom and an even better Nana. Thank you for everything that you do and for being you. I love you.

• Kimberly Church of God’s Women’s Ministry Bazaar will take place on Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, featuring arts, crafts, white elephant, canned goods and sweet shop. Smoked Boston butt dinners are $5 each.

• Happy birthday to Miss Anna Hopson on Nov. 16. I hope you have a wonderful day and a great year.

• There will be a spirit rally all day at Chick-fil-A in Gardendale on Tuesday to raise money for Snow Rogers Elementary School. A rally will be held Thursday for Bragg athletics.

• Graves Gap Baptist Church will have a bench plaque dedication honoring Vernon “Buck” and Henrietta “June” Gallimore and Earl McPherson on Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. On Nov. 17 at 7 p.m., Graves Gap will have a special singing of Sacred Harvest (formerly Heritage Quartet).

• Happy birthday to Nanna (Marty Hand) on Nov. 13. I don’t know how old you are, but I still love ya. Have a great birthday.

• On Thursday, Nov. 1, 11 members of the Beta Chi Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa held their November meeting at the Gardendale Civic Center. Members brought Care Bears to donate to Children’s Hospital of Alabama. Retired members Susie Jarvis, Jan Thomas and Celia Davis prepared and served refreshments of fruit salad, spinach dip and lemon cake. The table decor was a Thanksgiving motif. Each member brought a favorite book to review and recommended it to the group. The Christmas party will be at the home of Jan Thomas on Dec. 1 in Smokerise. Jan will prepare the brunch. Each member is asked to bring a $10 gift to play dirty Santa. All members and prospective members are urged to attend.

• The Gardendale AEGIS Christmas home tour will take place on Dec. 2 from noon to 6 p.m. For ticket information, call Teresa at 608-0585. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

• Landmark Lighthouse Assembly of God will be taking Angel Food orders Nov. 27 and Nov. 29 in the church foyer between noon and 2 p.m. or by phone at 631-9141, contact person is Kay McDonough or Lawanna Neely. Cash, money order or EBT only.

• The 21st annual Gardendale Christmas parade “All I Want for Christmas,” will be held Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. Applications are available online at www.gardendalechamberofcommerce.com.

• I hope that everyone will take a few minutes Monday to thank a veteran for all of their hard work and service to keep America free. I thank you for fighting for me and my family. Have a wonderful Veteran’s Day.
