Wright was a passenger in Jacobs’ gray 2003 Dodge.

Clay Speer, a 22-year-old resident of Cullman, was not injured in the accident, according to a report from Alabama State Troopers.

Speer’s white 2008 Hyundai collided with Jacobs’ vehicle at 11:25 a.m. on Thursday. The vehicles skidded off the road resulting in the destruction of the Apel Machine & Supply Company’s sign, Troopers reported.

Jacobs was removed from her vehicle by Johnson’s Crossing Volunteer Fire Department and the Cullman EMS using the Jaws of Life.

Jacobs and Wright were taken to UAB for treatment.

Alabama State Trooper Ron Wood is in charge of the investigation. The cause of the wreck is still undetermined.
