Girls basketball: No. 1 Oneonta 57, Locust Fork 29

Oneonta once again showed why they are ranked number one in Class 4A girls basketball heading into the state playoffs, as they routed Locust Fork 57-29 Friday night.
Locust Fork scored the first basket for their only lead of the game Oneonta guard Abby Blackwood took personal command of the game with her 3-point shooting touch.
Blackwood hit foyr treys on the night and scored 16 points as the Redskins led 13-4 after one period and 29-14 at the half. They pushed the lead to 30 at 52-22 with 5:21 remaining in the gam,e which triggered the “hot clock” mercy rule.
Kristen Cox led the Lady Hornets with 11 points. Kimberly Horton added seven and Kasi McMillian chipped in with four points and five rebounds.
Oneonta (23-5) will take the top seed and home-court advantage in next week’s area tournament and face St. Clair County, while Locust Fork (16-8) will be the second seed and face Fairview.
