The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified a body that was found in the Crosston area in north Jefferson County Thursday as Barbara J. Tuggle, 61.
A homeowner who was working on his house spotted the body of a woman in woods in the Crosston area of northern Jefferson County.
The homeowner was on a ladder when he saw the body, which was located near Dewey Goodwin Road. It’s an area just south of the Crosston Grocery, where Narrows Road, Morris Majestic Road, Bradford Road and New Castle Road all meet at a four-way stop. The location is about four miles northwest of Pinson.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s investigators found the body at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The woman, believed to be in her late 50s or her 60s, was wearing only a T-shirt and had been there well before Tuesday’s winter storm.
The cause of death has not been determined, but no foul play is suspected, according to Chief Deputy Randy Christian.
Anyone who may have information about this death is urged to call the sheriff’s office at 325-5900.
