A big win Tuesday night for Gardendale’s girls basketball team, as they upset Center Point 53-40 in the first round of the Jefferson County Large Schools Tournament at Clay-Chalkville.

The Rockets used a big rally in the third period, as they scored 20 points against just six for the Eagles, the No. 7 team in Class 5A.

Kelci Tuggle scored 12 points to go with five rebounds, and Alissa Cornelius added 10 points for Gardendale, who move on to play Clay-Chalkville at 5 p.m.Thursday in the semifinals.
