Anna Hood’s solo home run and Jamie Gail Hudson’s RBI double weren’t enough to do the job, as Locust Fork dropped an unusual 4-2 decision to Fairview in a Class 4A Area 9 softball game Tuesday.
The difference for the Aggies came on two runs in the sixth inning that scored on wild pitches by Husdon, in the circle in relief of Macy Wilks. Those runs came after Emily Gardner’s base hit scored Kalynn Holcomb to break a 1-1 tie.
Hudson’s double to left in the third brought home Shelby Hancock with the Hornets’ first run.
Wilks took the loss, starting out with four innings and coming back in for Hudson for the last inning and a third. She struck out five Aggie hitters while giving up five hits. Carli Ashley went the distance in the win for Fairview, allowing six hits and two walks with no strikeouts.
Locust Fork (9-6, 2-4 area) goes into the Blount County Tournament at Hayden this Thursday.
