Middle school softball: North Jefferson wins fifth straight county championship

- The North Jefferson Middle School softball team has once again won the Jefferson County Schools championship, as they defeated Rudd Middle 5-0 in the winner-take-all game Saturday. It’s the fifth straight title for the Blue Devils. The team includes (front row) Sara Phillips, Jadyn Allen, Lara Phillips, Savannah Chaviers, Anna Purvis, (back row) assistant coach Crystal Deloney, Morgan Maze, Anna Boger, Chloe Gooch, Baileigh Overton, Lainey Hardiman, Sarah Speigle, Meleigha Montgomery, Drew Sanders, and head coach Tonya Helm (who is stepping down as coach after nine years). Maze was the tournament MVP, while Boger and Sanders made the all-tournament team.
