(Letter to the Editor) Stop cuts to cancer research funding

Published 3:18 pm Wednesday, July 30, 2025

Dear Editor,

Anyone who has seen the impact of cancer knows that “research” isn’t just a scientific experiment. It can be the difference between life and death. When my dad was diagnosed with cancer, we were scared and didn’t know what to expect. When the doctors told us about new, effective treatment options, it gave us hope. In the years to come, there will be countless families across America who will receive the same devastating news we did. But instead of finding hope in a breakthrough new treatment, they will find out the research on the promising cancer drug that could have saved their loved one was cancelled because Congress slashed federal research funding.

It is of the utmost importance that we stop these cuts to research funding. Congressman Aderholt, as my representative in Congress, we are counting on you to vote against these cuts and fight for cancer patients.
