Cold Springs swept the team titles at its sectional track and field meet this past weekend, Holly Pond’s girls placed runner-up in theirs, and a host of local athletes punched their state tickets following terrific showings at their respective competitions.

Top five individuals and top three relays from each section meeting state qualifying standards received automatic bids, while many local schools earned wild-card representation.

Numerous athletes also set personal and/or school records in their respective events.

Class 1A-3A programs — Addison, Cold Springs, Cullman Christian, Hanceville, Holly Pond, St. Bernard and Vinemont — will compete at Cullman this coming Friday and Saturday, while Class 4A-7A schools — Cullman, Fairview, Good Hope and West Point — will head down to Gulf Shores for a three-day event beginning on Thursday.
