PREP TRACK & FIELD: West Point boys, Cold Springs girls triumph at county meet

HANCEVILLE — West Point’s boys and Cold Springs’ girls secured their respective team titles Monday following intense competition at this year’s Cullman County Championship.
The Warriors finished with 148 points in the 22-event meet held at Wallace State. Asa Sutter swept the hurdles, while Jakob Salter, Jesus Tovar, Thomas Ferster and Rene Moreno-Tovar took first in the 4×800-meter relay.
Holly Pond (133) finished second — followed by Fairview (124), Good Hope (108.5), Cold Springs (77), Hanceville (56) and Vinemont (54.5).
The Eagles, meanwhile, racked up nine event victories out of 21 total to accumulate 192 points.
Reese Swidecki (1,600-meter run and 3,200-meter run), Paizley Whitlow (800-meter run) and Ella Dickerson (triple jump) all won their respective individual competitions, while Claire Huffstutler, Ally Mavers, Daisy Mavers and Ayla Kate Huff sped to a win in the 4×800-relay, and Huffstutler and Ryleigh Wright shared the pole vault title.
Ivy Johnson added victories in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter ambulatory for the Eagles.
Good Hope (132) finished second. Fairview (105), Holly Pond (102), Hanceville (63), West Point (49), Vinemont (37) and Harmony (3) were next in line.
