GOOD HOPE — Jaxon Robertson delivered a terrific performance on the mound, Camden Cullen provided the game’s biggest hit and Fairview took down West Point 3-2 on Saturday to claim the program’s first county baseball title since 2017.

The Aggies defeated Vinemont 3-2 earlier in the day before West Point knocked off Good Hope 8-3 to set up the championship showdown.

Fairview (8-12) struck first in the third frame following Cullen’s two-out, two-run single and then extended its lead to 3-0 in the fifth inning after Nic Gregory scored on a wild pitch.

In search of its seventh straight county crown, West Point (9-11) didn’t go quietly.

The Warriors took advantage of two errors from the Aggies in the sixth inning to cut their deficit to one.

Robertson, however, slammed the door in the seventh frame, retiring the side in order to propel the Aggies to victory and take home MVP honors — the junior scattered four hits and seven strikeouts in his complete game. The teams combined for just eight hits.
