Alexandria “Alex” Braswell will be representing the Democratic party for Alabama House District 11.

A longtime Cullman County resident, sign language interpreter and advocate for working families, Braswell says she is committed to advancing economic growth, strengthening disability rights and reforming public education.

“I am honored to be chosen as the Democratic nominee for House District 11,” Braswell said in a press release. “This campaign has always been about putting people first, listening to our community’s concerns, and fighting for real change. As we move toward the General Election, I will continue to stand up for working families, public education, and the restoration of disability protections that have been unjustly rolled back.”

A statement from Braswell highlights key issues that directly impact the residents of District 11:

— Protecting Disability Rights & Section 504 – Advocating for equal access to education, employment, and healthcare for individuals with disabilities, including increased support for special education and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

— Smart Infrastructure for Cullman County – Prioritizing road and bridge improvements without imposing unnecessary tax increases or granting excessive truck weight exemptions that lead to costly repairs.

— Ensuring Access to Local Pharmacies – Regulating Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) to prevent price gouging, protect local pharmacies, and secure fair drug pricing and reimbursement for community pharmacies.

With the Aug. 26 General Election just months away, Braswell’s campaign is focused on “voter outreach, expanding grassroots efforts and ensuring every resident’s voice is heard.” She is asking supporters to get involved by:

— Volunteering – Assisting with canvassing, phone banking, and voter outreach efforts.

— Donating – Contributing to help spread the campaign’s message across the district.

— Following the Campaign – Staying engaged through social media and attending campaign events.

“The road ahead is about bringing accessibility, accountability and advocacy to District 11,” Braswell said. “I encourage every voter to be part of this movement and help shape a better future for Alabama.”
