PREP ROUNDUP: Five local squads advance to Northwest Regional

Five varsity girls basketball squads in The Times’ coverage area recorded wins Friday night to earn spots in this year’s Northwest Regional Tournament at Wallace State.

Cold Springs, Cullman, Good Hope, Holly Pond and West Point triumphed in their respective classifications and will play in the Sweet 16 at Tom Drake Coliseum starting next week.

St. Bernard and Vinemont, meanwhile, saw their seasons come to a close.

Class 1A

Lynn 53, St. Bernard 40

Ella Davis: 32 points

*The Saints finish the season at 13-6.


Class 2A

Cold Springs 70, Lexington 42

Hollyn Bruer: 18 points

Ella Dickerson: 18 points

Kenady Graves: 17 points

*The No. 2 Eagles (17-8) will play No. 6 Sulligent in Sweet 16.


Class 3A

Holly Pond 54, Colbert County 39

Millie McBee: 18 points

Madison Butts: 9 points

Maggie Nail: 9 points

*The No. 8 Broncos (20-8) will play Phil Campbell in the Sweet 16.


Lauderdale County 50, Vinemont 43

Reagan Robinson: 17 points

Vayda Yarbrough: 9 points

*The No. 7 Eagles finish the season at 22-7.


Class 4A

Good Hope 71, Wilson 41

Sophie Konrad: 26 points

Ella Gossett: 14 points

Ava McSwain 12 points

Lucie Adams: 8 points

*The No. 4 Raiders (24-5) will play Dora in the Sweet 16.


Class 5A

West Point 73, Ardmore 33

Jaelyn Faulkner: 20 points

Camryn Faulkner: 15 points

Laklin Shadix: 11 points

Kealie Harbison: 10 points

Kenadi Pagan: 8 points

*The No. 5 Warriors (23-5) will play Arab in the Sweet 16.


Class 6A

Cullman 61, Clay-Chalkville 57

Molly Wilson: 18 points

Molly Dorough: 16 points

Kadence Hanback: 10 points, 5 assists

Rachel Hoffman: 8 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds

*The Bearcats (15-13) will play No. 4 Hartselle in the Sweet 16.
