Cullman’s varsity boys had a mountain to climb Wednesday night — and they did just that.

Behind a combined 36 points from Jake and Sam Dorough, the Class 6A No. 5 Bearcats erased an early 17-point deficit against Jasper to pick up a 66-61 win and secure the Area 13 Tournament championship — their fourth straight crown under coach Stu Stuedeman.

Cullman trailed 23-6 late in the opening quarter and didn’t notch its first lead until the 6:59 mark of the final stanza, where the home team outscored the Vikings 16-11 to seal the deal and improve to 26-4 on the season.

Jake Dorough (19 points), Sam Dorough (17) and Preston Gay (13) notched All-Tournament team honors. Brooks Loftin joined them in double figures with 12.
