Students from the Cullman community are preparing to showcase their talents to benefit nursery and pediatric services at Cullman Regional on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 4 p.m. in the Cullman High School Auditorium.  Previously planned for the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre, recent construction plans have led to a change of venue.

The 2025 Cullman Regional Foundation Bownes Memorial For Kids’ Sake program celebrates the variety of talent among the youth in our area. The Variety Show will feature musical and theatrical performances by more than 60 children.

The event was started in 1993 by Dr. Eugene Bownes, one of Cullman’s most beloved pediatricians.

The program allows the Foundation to purchase special items for the hospital to help care for infants and pediatric patients. Proceeds from the event have purchased a variety of patient-care items over the years.

Engaging the students in the show allows them to be exposed to a philanthropic event at an early age.  Through their participation they will give back to help advance healthcare services. Participants make donations at the time of their auditions, sell tickets and sell sponsorships for the show.

The 2025 Bownes Memorial For Kids’ Sake Variety Show promises to deliver a wide range of talents from solo and ensemble dance performances to vocal and instrumental performances. Tickets may be purchased for $15 on the day of the program.

“We are excited to once again host the variety show giving students the opportunity to showcase their talents,” said Maria Stanford, Foundation Executive Director. “We encourage the community to take part and show your support for this cause benefitting the nursery and pediatric care at Cullman Regional.”
