- Good Hope Mayor Jerry Bartlett, right, discusses an agenda topic with council members Eric Phillips and Terry Shabel at the city's Jan. 27, 2025 council meeting.
GOOD HOPE — With spring registration open since the start of the year, local interest already is high in the upcoming parks and recreation baseball season at Good Hope.
Good Hope councilmember Taft Dillashaw informed the council Monday, Jan. 27, that close to 50 participants have so far signed up for the city’s annual slate of baseball, T-ball, and softball games, even though the Feb. 18 registration deadline is still three weeks away.
Residents can register family members online for Good Hope’s 2025 baseball season. Visit the city’s parks & rec web page (https://goodhope.recdesk.com/Community/Home) to enroll before Feb. 18. More information also can be obtained by following the Good Hope Park & Recreation page (https://www.facebook.com/GHParkRec/) on Facebook.
With no voting items on the meeting’s agenda, the council approved the minutes of its earlier Jan. 13 regular meeting and adjourned. At the previous January meeting, the council approved the following:
— Membership in the AirMedCare network’s medical flight evacuation program, which provides the service to any Good Hope resident whose covered flight originates out of Cullman County. The city will pay a $9,424 fee to provide the coverage to residents through the current year.
— Approved off-premises alcohol licensing for beer, wine, and liquor to Good Hope Grocery, Inc., in order to facilitate continued retail sales at the store’s current location after it fell under new ownership.
— Accepted a maintenance bond for privately developed subdivision paving at Mize Meadows Phase 1, with the city holding the option to release the bond and accept the new roadways into its maintenance system at a later date, if their construction meets municipal standards. When finished, Phase 1 of Mize Meadows will feature 185 new homes within the Good Hope corporate limits.
