Cullman city councilmember Johnny Cook announced this year’s annual “spring cleanup” will take place throughout the last week of March.

Between March 24 and March 28 city residents will be able to offload bulky items such as unused furniture, appliances and mattresses at no additional cost. Cook said in order for items to be picked up by the city’s sanitation workers they will need to be placed at the curb near the home’s trash can by 6 a.m. on the resident’s regularly scheduled garbage pickup day.

Items which are not able to be picked up during this time include: construction materials, hazardous chemicals, cross ties or tires. However, Cook said the city had made accommodations for all hazardous waste to be disposed of by dropping it off at the Sanitation Department, located on Convent Road, Saturday, March 22.
