COUNTY TOURNAMENT: Day 3 recap at Wallace State

The Cullman County Basketball Tournament continued Tuesday at Wallace State — with a few teams keeping their title hopes alive.

No. 2 Cold Springs 52, No. 3 Good Hope 49

The Eagles punched their ticket to the championship following a comeback victory over the Raiders on Tuesday.

Cold Springs faced an 11-point deficit at halftime but outscored Good Hope 30-16 over the final 16 minutes to prevail.

The Eagles will now play No. 1 West Point on Saturday at 4 p.m. for the county title.

Varsity Boys

No. 3 Fairview 69, No. 6 Vinemont 48

The Aggies secured a semifinal berth on Tuesday following a double-digit victory versus the Eagles.

Nine players found the scoring column for Fairview, which took control after a close opening quarter.

The Aggies will now play No. 2 Good Hope on Friday at 7:30 p.m. for a spot in the title tilt.

Varsity Girls

No. 3 West Point 71, No. 6 Cold Springs 46

The Warriors seized control against the Eagles from the outset en route to a runaway win on Tuesday.

West Point, which advanced to the semifinals following the victory, led by as many as 30 points in the second half.

The Warriors will now face No. 2 Vinemont on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. for a spot in the championship.

Varsity Boys

No. 2 Good Hope 80, No. 7 Cold Springs 67

The Raiders got all they could handle from the Eagles during Tuesday’s clash before pulling away at the free-throw line late.

Good Hope led throughout the contest, but Cold Springs stayed within striking distance and eventually trimmed its deficit to a few points in the fourth quarter. The Red and White, however, sank 11 of 13 shots from the charity stripe in the period to seal the deal.

The Raiders will now play No. 3 Fairview on Friday at 7:30 p.m. for a spot in the title tilt.
