Free food box giveaway 

First Presbyterian Church of Cullman, 615 3rd Avenue SE, will give away free food boxes Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 1 p.m. until all boxes are gone. You do not have to get out of your vehicle. Boxes will be brought to your car (LIMIT ONE BOX PER CAR). Cars may line up beside the tent next to the church on 7th. Volunteers will direct traffic. Each boxes contains: Bone-in ham, canned corn, canned green beans, flour, cornmeal, tea bags, mac & cheese, Vienna sausages, ramen noodles, broth, rice, dry pinto beans and saltine crackers. Education retirees to meet

The Cullman Education Retirement Association will meet Thursday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m. at Stone Bridge Farms. Ralph and Mary Ellen Pinion will host with Dr. Jane Teeter offering devotional. The program will be presented by The Link of Cullman. Bring donations (canned food or monetary) for the local food bank.

Winter Wonderland

The 19th Annual Sportsman Lake Park Winter Wonderland Christmas Light Display will be through Dec. 30. Hours are 5-9:30 p.m. Admission is $10 cash per vehicle. Returning this year is the Christmas train, horse and carriage rides, snow machine, photo booth, hot chocolate and much more. New this year is the Winter Wonderland Christmas Shop.

PFLAG Chapter to launch

A group of local citizens have formed a new chapter of PFLAG that will serve Cullman County. PFLAG is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, educating and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and their families. PFLAG Cullman will host a launch event in January 2025. The meet and greet type event will feature information about the organization, ways to sign up for support groups and light refreshments. The launch event will be at the North Alabama Agriplex from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025. More information can be found at pflagcullman.org.

Cullman County Soil & Water Conservation meeting

The Cullman County Soil & Water Conservation District quarterly board meeting will be Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at the USDA Service Center, 501-B 4th Street S.W., Cullman. For more information, email kholmes@cullmanswcd.com.

Tree Festival
The City of Cullman Tree Commission is planning the second holiday Tree Festival for December 2024. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available, large and small. No reservation required. For questions, call 256-615-3176.

Medical equipment ministry
Cullman First United Methodist Church has a medical equipment ministry that can loan items, for no charge, to those in need in the community. If you or someone you know is in need of medical items, or would like to donate good used equipment, contact the church office at 256-734-6690.

Never Forget Rose Garden donations

Volunteers needed to deliver homebound meals
There are several local senior centers in Cullman County in need of volunteers to deliver homebound meals. These are our most vulnerable seniors in the community. If you can help, call Commission on Aging centers:

Deliveries are between 10 a.m. and noon, Monday-Friday. Multiple days are open weekly.
