Parkside recognized for clean campus at Alabama PALS Governor’s Awards program

Winners of the 2024 Alabama PALS (People Against A Littered State) Governor’s Awards were announced and recognized at the Alabama PALS Governor’s Awards program, held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery. The annual awards luncheon, sponsored by Alabama PALS, recognizes groups, cities, counties and individuals that demonstrate outstanding commitment in the areas of litter control, recycling, local and statewide cleanup efforts, environmental education and volunteerism.
Parkside School in Baileyton received 3rd place honors in the Statewide Clean Campus category and 3rd place for the Clean Campus Scrapbook category.
The City of Cullman Sanitation Department was recognized in the City category, while Cullman County PALS received honors in the County category.
Receiving an individual honor was sheriff Matt Gentry in the Law Enforcement category.
PALS Sustaining Corporate Sponsors were also recognized for their stewardship and commitment to PALS during the awards program. PALS Sustaining Sponsors include ALFA, Coca-Cola UNITED, Vulcan Materials Company, Honda, Alabama Farmer’s Cooperative and The Poarch Band of Creek Indians. PALS also partners with ADCNR, ALDOT, the Association of County Commissions of Alabama, Alabama Community College System and ADECA on the statewide anti-litter initiatives.
