(Letter to the Editor) Thanks to those who put us in the holiday spirit

Dear editor,

A few comments about our lovely city of Cullman! Many thanks to all the hard workers who put our best foot forward with the flowers during the spring and summer hanging on the lamp posts in town, the fall decorations and our annual German inspired ‘Hay Guy and Gals’ and of course, the upcoming Christmas decorations, which are now beginning to appear in town. Our community is such a wonderful place to live and it is thanks to the hard work of the unseen “folks“ who go to all the trouble to decorate at all hours of the day and night. Of course the American flags in the intersection of Highway 31, put out by the VFW, always raise my heart in patriotic spirit when they put them out for each of the military and government holidays. These men and women, retired military service personnel, really could use some help from younger folks as many of them are “The Greatest Generation,” as named by Tom Brokaw.

Our past festivals and upcoming holiday celebrations help put lively spirit in our steps as we go through Cullman and its surroundings. There were several Halloween displays that were outstanding that my friends and I were able to see this year. Lights, actions and unique Halloween costumes made the spirit of Halloween simply spectacular. Apparently, they have been in production in past years. This was just the first year that I was able to see them!

In other words, thanks to everyone who helps to make our home of Cullman so very special. We are the ONLY Cullman in the United States, thanks to our founding father John G. Cullmann!
