For the second straight season, Addison’s championship hopes ended in the Class 1A semifinals.
The Bulldogs lost to University Charter (25-18, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23) on Wednesday at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, finishing their 2024 campaign at 34-15.
Addison opened play with a three-set win over Brantley (25-14, 25-13, 25-8). Prior to last season’s semifinal loss to Spring Garden, the Bulldogs had reached the championship match 15 consecutive times.
Now, coach Kaydi Woodard’s group will look to regroup in the offseason. Addison loses a pair of seniors in Lauryn Cunningham and Katie Barrett, but returns several talented players who will no doubt be motivated to make it back to the big stage next year.
Class 5A
West Point’s season ended Wednesday with a three-set loss to UMS-Wright (25-11, 25-12, 25-15).
Class 6A
Cullman’s season ended Tuesday with a three-set loss to Chelsea (25-18, 25-10, 25-17).
The Bearcats reached the state tournament for the first time in school history under first-year coach Amy Hudson.
