PREP ROUNDUP: No. 4 Fairview blanks East Limestone 42-0; Addison dominates Phillips

Fairview dispatched East Limestone 42-0 on Friday night to cap Class 5A, Region 7 play.

The fourth-ranked Aggies (8-0, 6-0) led 21-0 at halftime following two touchdown runs by Jake Harper and another by Kolt Redding in the second quarter.

Carson Jones added a scoring scamper of his own in the second half before Redding threw a pair of touchdown tosses to Conner Scott and Blake Rickard, respectively.

Redding completed 14 of 21 passes for 222 yards and added 53 rushing yards. Jones (11 carries for 151 yards) and Harper (eight carries for 52 yards) also pitched in on the ground.

Fairview will travel to fellow unbeaten Good Hope (Class 4A No. 5) next week.


Class 1A, Region 7

Addison 57, Phillips 0

The Bulldogs closed out region play Friday night with a dominant win over the Bears.

Addison led 57-0 at halftime as Judah Wilkins, Jaxson Williams, Joey Wilson and Carter Pratt each had touchdown runs. Scout Flynn also caught a scoring pass from Roberts, who returned an interception for a touchdown. Trennon Burns and Wyatt Anderson also secured a pick-sixes.

Addison (6-4, 5-2) is off next week before traveling to Berry for the first round of the playoffs.


Class 2A, Region 6

Falkville 30, Cold Springs 12

The Eagles’ bid for a playoff berth fell short Friday night with a loss to the Blue Devils.

Ayden Black delivered a touchdown pass to Cason Alexander in the first half and Matt Williams’ short touchdown run in the third quarter made it a 16-12 game.

Falkville, though, pulled away from there.

Cold Springs finishes the season at 4-6 (2-4).


Class 3A, Region 5

Phil Campbell 57, Hanceville 22

The Bulldogs couldn’t keep up with the Bobcats in Friday night’s loss.

Hunter Black threw a touchdown pass to Drake Bentley in the first half and added a lengthy scoring run on a fake punt late in the game.

Marquies Leeth also found the end zone on the ground for Hanceville (1-8, 1-5).

The Bulldogs close out the season next week with a home contest against Oak Grove.


Class 3A, Region 8

Collinsville 56, Holly Pond 32

The Broncos dropped their region finale against the Panthers on Friday night.

Holly Pond trailed 42-8 before adding a few scores in the fourth quarter.

Sawyer Olinger rushed for a pair of touchdowns and threw another (83 yards) to Boston Gibbs, who also had a rushing touchdown.

The Broncos (3-6, 2-5) cap their season next week with a road game at Cleveland.


Class 3A, Region 5

Winfield 42, Vinemont 12

Gabriel Herrera and Chase Blair each had fourth-quarter touchdown runs, but it wasn’t enough for the Eagles to take down the No. 9 Pirates on Friday night.

Vinemont (7-3, 4-3) is off next week before traveling to Lauderdale County for the first round of the playoffs.


Class 5A, Region 7

Ardmore 27, West Point 13

West Point’s postseason hopes ended with Friday’s loss to the Tigers.

Hunter Hensley and Ollie Howell each provided rushing scores for the Warriors.

West Point (2-7, 2-4) heads to Brewer next week for its season finale.
